Fugee has a small team running the organization. We rely on the support of dedicated volunteers to maintain our crucial work across the organisation, from teaching to sports activities to managerial operations.
Most of our opportunities to volunteer will be based in Kuala Lumpur. Our aim is to recruit a diverse and dedicated team of passionate and committed volunteers. We especially encourage the following people to get involve:
people with managerial experience in the nonprofit sector
people with an education background working with students
people with relevant multilingual abilities to communicate with refugee communities
people with fundraising experience and expertise
people with specialist skills in marketing and communications (i.e., WordPress and website development, graphic design, infographics), statistics, fundraising and administration.
people who have research skills and advocacy experience, including students.
For Fugeeās volunteers, we generally require a minimum commitment of one day a week for at least 3 months, depending on the type of commitment. This is to ensure consistency for our beneficiaries and it makes managing the process easier for us too! We prefer if individuals can commit weekdays.
Our volunteers perform a range of assignments and tasks depending on their expertise, such as:
assisting in research and drafting publications (i.e., police papers, reports)
assisting in updating content for the website, newsletters and bulletins
assisting in organizing events and fundraisers
assisting in gathering and analysing data, including statistics (i.e., Fugee School progress)
teaching in-class subjects and activities
organising excursions, activities and workshops for students
