Higher education is a powerful catalyst for change, yet for many refugee, asylum-seeker, and stateless youth, the path to a university degree is blocked by financial and systemic barriers.

We are thrilled to announce that the eligibility process for the Fugee HiEd Scholarship 2026/2027 is officially open!

Following our historic 2025 cycle where we welcomed our largest and most diverse cohort yet, awarding 30 scholarships to brilliant youth from Myanmar, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, and beyond, we are ready to invest in the next generation of leaders.

What is the Fugee HiEd Scholarship?

The Fugee HiEd Scholarship is designed to provide holistic support for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. We don’t just fund your education; we walk alongside you throughout your academic journey.

Selected scholars receive:

• Financial Support: Up to RM 30,000 toward total tuition fees (paid directly to the university).

• Professional Mentorship: Guidance from industry professionals, alumni, and Fugee staff.

• Well-being Support: Access to dedicated mental health services.

• Career Readiness: Opportunities for internships, networking, and community events.

Please Note: This scholarship strictly covers first-time Bachelor’s degree programmes. Foundation, Diploma, Master’s, and PhD programmes are not eligible.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Status: Must be a refugee, asylum seeker, or stateless youth currently residing in Malaysia. Applicants must not be approved for resettlement.

• Age: Between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.

• Academic standing: Currently enrolled, holding an offer letter, or in the process of applying to a Bachelor’s programme in Malaysia (or online) starting before September 2027.

• Financial Need: Must demonstrate a genuine need for financial aid and must not hold another scholarship that covers full tuition.

Important Timeline

1. Scholarship hopefuls must fill in the Eligibility Form before the 18th of June.
2. Application Forms will be sent to eligible applicants from 1 June till 30 June.
3. Interviews conducted June and July
4. Final Selection notified by early September
