How to Fundraise for Fugee: Becoming a Fundraising Champion

At Fugee.org, we believe that dignity starts with an opportunity. For refugee children and youth in Malaysia, who are currently denied legal access to employment, healthcare, and formal education, that opportunity is often locked behind systemic barriers.

We are embarking on a crucial mission: to raise RM300,000 to sustain and expand our vital educational infrastructure. We’re inviting you to join us, not just as a donor, but as an active partner in this change. We’re looking for Fundraising Champions: passionate individuals ready to leverage their networks to build futures that can’t be taken away.

The Mission You Will Champion

The RM300,000 we raise will directly impact our two most critical programmes:

1. Fugee School Development: The funds will help fund our new, significantly larger location, improve essential facilities, and expand our dedicated teaching staff. This ensures that hundreds of refugee children have a safe, nurturing place to learn and thrive.

2. Fugee HiEd Scholarship: This programmeprovides financial aid and holistic support to help deserving refugee youth attend university. You’ll be helping us bridge the devastating gap: currently, less than 1.5% of refugee youth in Malaysia are enrolled in higher education.

As a Fundraising Champion, you are the link between a refugee’s potential and their reality.

Your Role: The Fugee Fundraising Champion

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are passionate about human rights and education. Your role is simple: use your unique connections and creativity to launch a small, personalised campaign supporting Fugee’s main projects.

No prior fundraising experience is required—just enthusiasm and commitment! We will provide you with all the templates, stories, and guidance you need. We encourage a consistent effort over a three-month period to maximize your impact.

1. Choose Your Project: Decide which Fugee programmes you want to support. You can choose to fundraise for the Fugee School, the HiEd Scholarship, or both!

Tips for Creative Fundraising

• The Personal Challenge: Tie your goal to a physical event, such as running a marathon or cycling a distance, and ask friends to sponsor your effort.

• Celebrate with Purpose: Ask for donations to Fugee in lieu of gifts for your birthday, anniversary, graduation, or even for holiday giving!

• Host an Event: Sell handmade crafts, host a bake sale, or organize a small gathering, dedicating the proceeds to your campaign target.
