Navigating your educational and career pathways can be challenging, especially as a young refugee or stateless person. At Fugee, we are committed to providing the guidance and opportunities you need to build a successful future. The Fugee HiEd team are thrilled to announce two upcoming programmes designed to help you gain clarity, develop new skills, and connect with a supportive community: the Entrepreneurship Programme and the pathway fair, Choose Your Lane!
On the 21st and 22nd of June 2025, Fugee was honored to participate in Stand With Myanmar 2025, a vibrant two-day event held at The GoDown Arts Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Organized by the Coalition of Burma Ethnics Malaysia (COBEM) and other dedicated NGOs, the event championed human rights and solidarity with the people of Myanmar, featuring a rich tapestry of dance, art, Burmese cuisine, informational exhibitions, and insightful panel discussions. Fugee’s presence was a great addition to fostering deeper understanding and connection. A highlight of Fugee's participation was the Jom Borak series, Fugee's interactive sessions designed to bring Malaysians and refugees together for games, cultural exchange, and unforgettable conversations that break down barriers.
Applications for the 2026 Fugee HiEd Scholarship will be accepted from June 2, 2025, to July 28, 2025. This initiative provides a vital pathway for refugee students to pursue their academic aspirations and build sustainable futures, which are otherwise largely inaccessible to them in Malaysia.
The Grey Box at GMBB KL buzzed with energy and inspiration on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, as Fugee HiEd hosted the Spotlight: Breaking Boundaries, Amplifying Voices open mic event. It was an unforgettable afternoon, a vibrant tapestry woven with the incredible talents of refugee youth and the generosity of a supportive community.
