On January 17th, we gathered in our new Fugee space for an evening that felt both like a homecoming and a grand opening. The 2026 Fugee HiEd Scholarship Ceremony was a particularly special one; it marked our fifth anniversary, a five-year journey of turning the "dream" of higher education into a tangible reality for refugee youth.
This year marks a monumental milestone for the Fugee family. We have successfully moved into a bigger and better space—a four-storey building that is already transforming the educational experience for refugee children in Malaysia.

From our humble beginnings in a single apartment to adapting across shoplots, our growth was fueled by the critical, unmet need for quality, structured education. Now, our dedicated centre is designed to replace demanding half-day sessions with full-day, consistent learning, offering students richer opportunities.
This World Human Rights Day, Fugee HiEd and UNHCR’s Refugee Advisory Board are bringing Malaysian university students together to rethink how refugees can access higher education in Malaysia!
