From our humble beginnings in a single apartment to adapting across shoplots, our growth was fueled by the critical, unmet need for quality, structured education. Now, our dedicated centre is designed to replace demanding half-day sessions with full-day, consistent learning, offering students richer opportunities.

Striving for Education in Unreasonable Circumstances - Refugee Education in Malaysia & What Needs to Happen Next

A new needs assessment by Fugee Org, "Striving for Education in Unreasonable Circumstances," delivers a stark analysis of the crisis facing Malaysia's estimated 59,250 refugee children. Excluded from the national system due to government policy and lack of legal status, these children rely on informal Alternative Learning Centres (ALCs).

The report reveals an alarming reality: only about 35% of registered school-age children are enrolled, a gap sustained by systemic barriers including financial hardship, security threats, and registration delays. The ALCs themselves are struggling against a chronic lack of funding, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of qualified teachers and materials.

The study concludes with a powerful call for coordinated action, outlining six key recommendations across four focus areas.

Building Bridges Through Culture and Conversation: Fugee Jom Borak's Impact at Stand With Myanmar 2025

On the 21st and 22nd of June 2025, Fugee was honored to participate in Stand With Myanmar 2025, a vibrant two-day event held at The GoDown Arts Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Organized by the Coalition of Burma Ethnics Malaysia (COBEM) and other dedicated NGOs, the event championed human rights and solidarity with the people of Myanmar, featuring a rich tapestry of dance, art, Burmese cuisine, informational exhibitions, and insightful panel discussions. Fugee’s presence was a great addition to fostering deeper understanding and connection. A highlight of Fugee's participation was the Jom Borak series, Fugee's interactive sessions designed to bring Malaysians and refugees together for games, cultural exchange, and unforgettable conversations that break down barriers.
