What's New at Fugee: Growth, Learning, and Inspiration!

Hi Fugee Family,
As we approach the end of the year, we’re excited to reflect on an eventful and enriching school term at Fugee! Over the past few months, Fugee has been deeply involved in expanding our programmes.
Check out what’s been happening at Fugee!
Fugee's Exciting New Extracurricular Activities
At Fugee, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom! Our new lineup of extracurricular activities are important in providing our students with a well-rounded learning experience, opening up new horizons for our students to explore their talents and passions.
From unlocking digital creativity in ICT sessions to refining their storytelling and public speaking skills in English discussions, and from cracking mind-bending Math puzzles to unleashing creative expression through Arts and Crafts, the activities have truly brought fun learning to life!
Inspiring Visitors: Yuna and Alena Murang at Fugee School
Fugee staff and students were thrilled to have two amazing women visit Fugee School: Yuna, the globally recognised Malaysian singer-songwriter, and Alena Murang, the talented Sarawakian sape’ player and cultural advocate. Their visit was full of inspiring music, good energy, and moments we’ll never forget!
Yuna encouraged our students to embrace their uniqueness and shoot for the stars. She even gave them a mini guitar lesson and jammed with the students, bringing out some serious musical talent! Alena inspired everyone to feel connected to their roots. She showed the students how to play the sape’ and shared stories that captivated our students. It was a day of music, laughing, and learning — the perfect blend of fun and inspiration.
"It was just really beautiful to see, kids embracing the music or just me interacting with them, it was really fun.” Yuna
"They were one of the most energetic audiences I have ever had and I feel very blessed to visit Fugee School." Alena Murang
Shaping Future Leaders with our HiEd Internship Programme!
Meanwhile, our HiEd Scholars are also gaining real-world experience and skills through internships, all thanks to the Fugee HiEd initiative!
Big shoutout to our first batch of interns on wrapping up their internships!
During their final presentations, Sehan shared how he developed exciting programmes to engage Fugee students, whilst Nour highlighted her growth in managing data and streamlining administration tasks. We're excited to see our interns continue to grow and take on new challenges, and we look forward to seeing them flourish as they take the next steps in their journey!"
Building Resilience: Mental Health and Wellness at Fugee

At Fugee, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, which is why we offer mental health-focused workshops, to offer a safe space for students to express themselves and build the tools needed to succeed both academically and in life.
In the past two months, Fugee organized valuable workshops in partnership with Humankind, Buddybear Humankind and Mercy Malaysia: a Mental Health Awareness workshop for HiEd scholars, the Clean Living workshop, and Psychological First Aid (PFA) training for Fugee School students. The Mental Health workshops focused on coping strategies and well-being, while the Clean Living session addressed the importance of hygiene for better health and Psychological First Aid was focused on practical techniques to recognise and respond to stress while building a foundation of empathy among peers. These initiatives help students build essential life skills, promoting their overall well-being and preparing them for the future.
Strengthening Our Core: Launch of Fugee’s Board of Governors!

Along with supporting refugee students at Fugee School, we are also committed to strengthening our foundation. To ensure the long-term growth and sustainability of our mission, we’re proud to announce the formation of Fugee’s Board of Governors (BOG).
We're so proud to welcome Mr. Abdulmajid Chahrour, Mr Hardip Rekhraj, Ms. Melissa Akhir, Ms. Melissa Gomes, and Puan Sri Yati Zainudin to the team. These amazing leaders will help guide us as we build partnerships and continue to make a difference.
Together with the Board of Governors, we’re building a resilient future for Fugee.
